Brief history of the department

The Department of Economics, Jorhat College came into being with the very inception of the college. At the beginning Economics was taught as a core subject. With the increase in the number of students and responding to the demand of time Major course was opened in 1977-78. The first batch of students came out successfully in the year 1979. Since then a large number of students have offered Economics as Major subject.

Mission and Vision

It has been an earnest endeavour on the part of the department to undertake number of academic and co-curricular activities. The department also undertakes various initiatives as its responsibility towards the society.
