Celebration of International women's Day on 8/3/2020 in Shahpuria Gaon,Jorhat(adopted village). On the International Women's Day, a health awareness lecture program was delivered on Women and Children by Dr.Rupanjali Phukan, senior health and medical officer, Bhaghchung block, Primary Health Care centre, Jorhat. The event was organised by Women's Cell in collaboration with Teacher's Unit, Jorhat College (Amal.)
Department of Economics and IQAC, jorhat college organize a special talk on "Current Issues and Challenges of Indian Economy ", on 04/03/2020 , delivered by Dr. Basanta Kalita, Associate Professor, Dept. of Economics, Tezpur college. Dr. Kalita delineated the various issues of concern of the economy. He very lucidly explained the various issues that needs caution. He discussed certain specific issues that included unemployment, saving, crisis in NBFCs and financial sector, struggling corporate sector etc. He stressed on the need of strict corporate governance. He not only cited the obstacles, but also discussed the possible ways to revamp/ rebuild the economy. He expressed his views on the impact of GST and Demonetization on the economy. He wanted the state to play a more crucial role in certain areas viz., education, health, housing etc. Moreover he also expressed the ray of hope of the revival of the economy with continuous efforts.
Jorhat College brought out a procession on 25/2/2020, the first of its kind in this part of the country, joining international Extinction Rebellion. Rechristened as "বিশ্বৰ বিলুপ্তিৰ বিৰুদ্ধে বিদ্ৰোহ" more than a thousand students and teachers of Jorhat College were joined by those of Jorhat Jatiya Vidyalay and Jorhat Deaf and Dumb school .With streetplays skits ,songs,placards, tableaus,and many other forms they spoke out against Global warming,nuclear armament,planned burning down of Amazon,Austalia and Uttaranchal forests ,chemical pesticides and insecticides, plastic and polythene and identified superpowers,TNCs and MNCs as source of the threat of EXTINCTION OF THE PLANET ALONGWITH ITS NATURE, FLORA AND FAUNA. In short it was an effort to save earth and the response was overwhelming,to say the least.Better late than never.
